Scope and Contents
Thousands of photographic negatives and print photographs and contact sheets from the photography studio of local photographer Joseph Janney Steinmetz. Subjects include portraits, views of Sarasota from the top of the Orange Blossom Hotel, oxcarts and oxen at Myakka River State Park, the Ringling Hotel on Longboat Key, the Twitchell House, the Lambie Houses, the Rus Russell House, Bill Tracy's studio, Kate Wheelan's home and studio, Labor Day sailing races in Sarasota Bay, the Ringling Museum of Art, the exterior of Ca' d' Zan, the Lido Casino, the Florida Power and Light Company, Ben Stahl and his paintings, Mrs. Hester Ringling Sanford, Mrs. Philip Hiss, the Sarasota Art Association Show, the Sarasota Garden Club, a party hosted in 1950 by MacKinlay and Irene Kantor, the Plaza Restaurant, the Cocoon House, Thelma Sears, the Myakka River, the U.S.S.
