Wayne Dowling Collection
Scope and Contents
The Wayne Dowling photography collection holds images taken by Dowling while working as a staff photographer for the Sarasota News newspaper. There are photographs of the Florida Power and Light plant in Sarasota; Sarasota High School Ihrig field; Sailor Circus; the Whitaker cemetery; Sarasota News editorial staff working in their office; sculptures at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art; night scenes of the Midway at the Sarasota County Fair; P51Mustang aircrafts at the Sarasota Municipal Airport as well as several candid shots of personalities and locations in Sarasota. There is also a single copy of The Sarasota County Historian in the collection.

This collection is stored offsite in a remote storage facility. Materials from the collection can be brought to the Sarasota County History Center for viewing upon request.
