John Halton Papers
Scope and Contents
Business and personal records of John Halton, better known as Dr. Jack Halton, who operated the Halton Sanitarium in Sarasota in the early 20th century. The collection contains records from Halton's education and medical school career, correspondence to and from Dr. Halton and his wife Winifred, orders and correspondence from Jack Halton's time in the U.S. Army Medical Reserve Corps (1917-1919), genealogical information, song lyrics and manuscript sheet music created by Halton, financial records, Halton's 1924 passport, licenses and permits for Halton's medical practice, ephemera associated with Halton and his medical practice and the Halton Sanitarium, professional papers given at conferences or submitted for publication, a booklet from the Belle Haven Inn, photographs, newspaper clippings, and related records.

This collection is stored offsite in a remote storage facility. Materials from the collection can be brought to the Sarasota County History Center for viewing upon request.
